Chiller Lift
Chiller Lift
The recent installation of two chillers was completed successfully by W Finch & Co Ltd, following a detailed lift plan. Using precision equipment and expert coordination, the team safely positioned and secured both chillers, ensuring smooth operations in collaboration with JCI’s site supervision.
Crane and Transport Setup
The crane and transport were positioned by the Lift Supervisor, once in place, the crane was set up. Meanwhile, the W Finch rigging team set up skates and tirfors onto the awaiting steelwork to prepare for the lift.
Slinging and Lifting the Chiller
Two-leg chains were attached to the crane hook, and nylon slings were connected to the spreaders and the two-leg chains, based on the slinging arrangements for the first chiller. Using two-way radio communication, the crane hook was positioned precisely above the centre of the first chiller. The slings were securely attached to the manufacturer’s lifting points using oversized bow shackles.
The crane hook was then raised until the slinging arrangement became secure. The chiller was then lifted from our W Finch transport and safely landed into the chiller compound, within a 20-meter radius, onto machine skates on the steelwork.
Positioning and Finalising the Chiller
After landing, we removed the lifting equipment and used a tirfor to skate the chiller along the steelwork. Once the chiller was in position, the team jacked it up using 5,000kg hydraulic toe jacks, removed the skates, and lowered the chiller onto its AVMs.
